NCC Medical Supports Launch of Shanghai Biomedical Innovation Development Project

On September 20, the launch ceremony for the Shanghai “Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan” Biomedical Innovation Development Project, “Intelligent Electromyographic Signal Decoding and Integrated Neuromonitoring System,” together with the Orthopaedic Electrophysiology Innovation and Development Symposium, was successfully held at Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital, the National Center for Orthopedics.

It was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Biomedical Science and Technology Industry Promotion Center, Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital, and the Shanghai United Electrophysiology and Rehabilitation Technology Innovation Research Center (SIAER, also known as the NCC Neuro Research Center).

Representatives from relevant Shanghai municipal authorities, the Biomedical Division of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, and the leadership of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital attended the event. Specialists in orthopaedics, hand surgery, neurosurgery, and electromyography also joined the discussion, contributing clinical and technical perspectives to the project’s next phase.

Project Launch Advances Intelligent Neuromonitoring Collaboration

The initiative brings together clinical expertise, engineering capability, and industry resources to advance intelligent decoding of electromyographic (EMG) signals and the integrated application of neuromonitoring technologies.

The project is designed to support continued innovation in orthopaedic electrophysiology and strengthen the translation of clinically relevant research into practical neuromonitoring solutions. 

NeuGuard Demonstrates Multi-Site Centralized Neuromonitoring Capability

During the event, a live demonstration of the NeuGuard Central Neuromonitoring System was completed. The demonstration connected three locations across progressively greater distances:

• In-hospital connection: approximately 700 meters
• Lin-gang Special Area connection: approximately 70 kilometers
• Jiangxi connection: approximately 700 kilometers

The demonstration illustrated the system’s centralized connectivity across on-site, regional, and long-distance settings. By enabling a central neuromonitoring platform to connect with distributed locations, NeuGuard supports the exploration of more coordinated neurophysiological monitoring workflows across clinical and research environments.

Building an Industry–Medicine Innovation Ecosystem

In his remarks, Mr. Mao, Chairman of NCC Medical, shared the perspective on an industry–medicine collaboration model centered on resource integration and coordinated innovation. He emphasized the value of connecting clinical needs, academic research, technological development, and industrial implementation to create a more effective pathway for innovation.
