The official winners of the 2025 Annual Shanghai Science and Technology Award have been released. Titled Establishment and Application of Novel TCM Tuina Diagnosis & Treatment Technology for Musculoskeletal Balance Regulation, the project won the First-Class Award (Award ID: 20254002). Nominated by Huangpu District People’s Government of Shanghai, it was jointly developed by multiple Grade A Tertiary Hospitals, universities and tech firms, with NCC Medical as a core R&D participant. NCC’s proprietary electrophysiology technologies fuel the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.

Led by leading TCM Tuina experts, the consortium includes Shanghai University of TCM affiliated hospitals, Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of TCM and Fourier Intelligence. By integrating classic TCM theories with intelligent electrophysiological monitoring, the team solved key clinical hurdles of musculoskeletal disorders and built a deployable digital musculoskeletal balance regulation system to digitize traditional Tuina treatment.
As a domestic neuroelectrophysiology specialist founded in 1997, NCC supplied full proprietary hardware and algorithms for the project:

Cervicobrachial/lumbar pain, scoliosis and chronic fatigue are prevalent musculoskeletal illnesses, while conventional Tuina lacks standardized, quantifiable evaluation. This project unifies Tuina diagnosis and operation standards, paired with self-developed intelligent diagnostic devices. Standardized precise rehabilitation solutions are now available to all-tier TCM hospitals and rehab departments for bone-joint patients.
This top municipal science award marks a milestone of cross-sector collaborative innovation. Moving forward, NCC MEDICAL will leverage its electrophysiology strengths and deepen partnerships with TCM institutes and top hospitals:
NCC covers full-cycle electrophysiology solutions for outpatient diagnosis, intraoperative neuroprotection and ward rehabilitation, including wireless EEG, IONM monitoring systems, surface EMG detectors and EMG biofeedback rehab devices for global clinical facilities.
